V2 Lens Guide

Rex Specs lenses are all engineered from premium materials to provide protection from anything your dog may encounter. All of our lenses are impact resistant and UV 400 rated, blocking 99% of harmful UVA and UVB rays. Below is our lens guide to help you decide which lens is right for your pup.

  • Clear

Allows 92% of visible light to pass. For everything except protection from brightness (still UV 400). Perfect training lens.

  • Smoke

Allows 20% of light to pass. For everything! Overall, the most versatile lens. Great for dogs that are rough on their equipment as it continues to offer visibility when scratched.

  • Red Mirror

Allows 23% of light to pass. Giddy up! The red mirror is great for most dogs and is very similar to the smoke lens with a bit more style.

  • Silver Mirror

Allows 13% of light to pass. STYLE! Add some flavor to the daily grind with our darkest lens, making it the best option if your dog has light sensitivity.

  • Blue Mirror

Allows 15% of light to pass. DMs are rolling in! The blue mirror lens adds a touch of flair and is one of our darker lenses for dogs who have sensitivity to light. Perfect for use in sunny areas and for those who love that blue mirror look!

  • Pink Mirror

Allows 37% of light to pass. Looks Cool. Pairs well with long walks on the beach and a glass of pinot doggio.

  • Purple Mirror

Allows 27% of light to pass. If you don’t get the pink lens, get the purple one - it’s that simple - duh.

  • Yellow

Allows 87% of light to pass. Similar transparency as clear - but looks cooler on the range or during your next night operation.

  • Green

Allows 16% of light to pass. A darker lens for those who need it. Slap this on your pup and channel their inner HULK!

How to switch the lenses out

  • 1. Remove Lens

Remove the lens by grabbing the muzzle area and top area of the goggle and pull apart.

  • 2. Insert New Lens

Start putting the new lens into the frame by engaging the two tabs located at the muzzle area of the goggle.

Next, engage the side tabs one at a time if your goggle has them. Make sure these are clicked in all the way before moving to the tabs along the top of the goggle.

Line up, then engage the upper side tabs. Save the top middle tab for last!

  • Pro Tip:

If you’re having a hard time engaging some of the tabs, wiggle the frame/lens back and fourth to find the sweet spot.

Lens swap

Purchasing extra lenses has been beneficial. As the sky changes . Bright days allow us to swap the clear lense for a tinted. Also having spare lenses. Allows those that become scratched to be replaced.

The Best Protection

My lovely Brody had eye surgery after somethiing miniscule got lodged in his eye causing a huge infection. The wonderful surgeon not only saved his eye but he got his sight back. He loves to go into the woods and I thank you everyday for your Repacement lenses and goggles which protect him. Plus he looks like Super Dog!

Look great! Scratch easily.

Keira received her replacement Himalayan Pink goggles along with a new Purple Mirror lens. We LOVE the colors and they go so well together! The only downside is that the mirrored lenses are not very scratch resistant. She's worn them for about two weeks now and the lens has a considerable amount of visible scratch marks. The standard clear and dark smoked lenses are much more durable in that regard. Other than that, we love em!

Love! Best colour 🙃

Absolutely love the purple replacement lenses. My boy now matches my jeep with his grey frames and purple lenses.

Scratch up way too easy and fast!

I am very grateful for having RexSpec to help my doggie with his pannus condition. However, I have a very athletic dog, we are spending 2+ hrs. during which he is going through shrubs and brush on our daily outings. The lenses only last for about 3 weeks before they are so scratched up that it is impossible to see through. He then begins to fight them and I have to replace the lenses. I wish there would be a tougher coating to help us owners not to go through this high frequency of sense replacement.

Hello! Thank you so much for your review and feedback!
The lenses will scratch but dogs see a bit differently than you or I. They see at either 20/40 or even 20/60 vision and can't focus well within 18' of their face. This means they don't notice the scratches as much as you or I would. We encourage all of our customers to get the most out of each lens before replacing them.
We have been looking into scratch-resistant lenses but have been unable to find a material that is both UV protective and impact resistant (so it won't shatter into a dog's eyes upon heavy impact). We continue to look into this but dogs are much rougher on goggles than humans are so even a scratch-resistant lens will still scratch when rubbed on the ground, ran through heavy brush, or contacted by other debris. In the meantime, we are working to keep the lenses as low cost as possible so they are easy to replace.
If there is anything else we can do, please reach out to us at 800-932-8371!
