Honoring Piper the Airport K9

Last week we had to say good bye to Piper the Airport K9. Piper not only excelled in his work but he brought people together. Piper and his handler, Brian, celebrated partnership, life and the love of both. Together as the Airport K9 team they built an incredible international community that looked to them for a smile, laugh, and reminder of the joy that can be found everyday.

There is no denying the close bond between Piper the Airport K9 and Rex Specs. Airport K9 and Rex Specs grew up together - and many people know of Rex Specs because of Piper. We are humbled by this and forever grateful. Piper, you will always be the Rex Specs Star.

As many people are eager to honor Piper, Brian requested that donations be made in Piper's name to Spike K9 Fund. We have worked with Spikes K9 Fund in the past and greatly support their mission, management and motivation. You can read our interview with Spike K9 Fund founder here.

Please contact us at info@rexspecs.com if you have any other questions about how to honor Piper and support Airport K9 and Cherry Capital Airport. Thank you all for the love and support you have shown for Piper.

Brian recently shared his appreciation for the outpouring of support.

  • RexSpecs are perfect for my good doggo REX! Yes, my pupper’s name is REX! They must be super comfy, because anything else I put on Rex, he whines and runs around until I take it off of him – but not Rex Specs. These are by far the best Dog Goggles on the market! Do yourself and your doggo a favor and pick up a pair of Rex Specs!

  • I’ve bought Rex Specs for my pup and she loves them. She loves to stick her head out the window of the vehicle and the Rex Specs block all the stuff coming up off the road. Keeps thorns and sticks out when she goes for walks in the woods. Good job guys! R.I.P Piper.

  • Piper is the reason I bought RexSpecs for my 3 year old Akita Lily. As an avid instagramer and follower of @airportK9 I could see how good they were and well they worked. As my job called for extensive travel, I made it a point to get up to Traverse City and meet Brian and Piper. The results of which I posted on my page, @meadchuckster. Brian was a fantastic host and Piper just a cutie. We talked and shared stories, I got to play kick ball with Piper and he was humble enough to have his picture taken with me. RIP big boy, you still the coolest dog ever. Thank you Brian for being a super person and sharing Pipe.
